Transistor Radio Donation Drive - Excellent Product association
The local radio stations have done it again. They have put together a PR drive that on one hand does some good things for victims of the Asian Tsunami crisis, on the other hand drives thru the point that radio IS the advertising medium of the new decade.
Starting last week, radio stations have been mentioning on air that with much devastation to the Asian Tsunami affected regions, the only way emergency messages can reach out to the victims are thru handheld transistor radios. Hence they are appealing for the public to donate such radio sets and fresh batteries. And to kick start the campaign, the radio stations have pledged 3000 transistor radio sets.
To people like me on the street, this pushes thru a very strong message, that (a) Radio is the most effective form of advertising to reach out to a large audience, (b) that our radio stations are socially responsible.
As a marketer, I will be looking very hard at radio for my next marketing campaign. Associating with the correct marketing product/item does tons for your business.
