The 1-hour Sashimi that breeds goodwill
You know, people usually think about promotional or corporate gifts as something tangible, but it doesn’t always have to be. A corporate gift can be an experience, and a promotional gift a sensation. In this case, I saw a promotional gift that leaves a tingling sensation in your mouths, a food gift.
I was in a restaurant enjoying a buffet spread. The food spread was wide for the price of the buffet, but the food was all cheap items. Sat at my table with a first round of food, satisfied but not delighted with the basic food items. Then just as I was done with this first round, I saw some of the waiters put together a make shift counter, and a master chef emerged from the kitchen with blocks of fresh sashimi. With his pristine white attire, sharp knife skills and yummy sashimi, he entertained. Lots of smiles emerged as people took their share of this promotional gift of a plate of sashimi. In about an hour and having created the impression on all the diners, the chef left.
“I didn’t know they serve sashimi here. That’s good value for money!” “The chef was entertaining, and the food yummy!” Suddenly, I had the impression that everyone was delighted. Lots of positive word of mouth marketing. Incredible what that few slices of sashimi has done for the company’s bottom line.
So consider working a magical 1-hour special or promotional gift into your usual operations. It will not cost much, but has very good upside.
